Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has burnt though their first mesh so far, and how long it took to do so.
I ran about 30 mins of total searing on the TS8000 before blasting through. I feel this is a short time...

Should def last longer than that. Did you calibrate the torch head with the little matchstick?

Do you have the valve at full open? I set mine at a quarter turn open as to not punch too much heat all at once from cold. I'll dial it up a little bit after the metal is warmed up. (TS8000)

The tank is a nice forest green - it is the regular camping 16.4 propane tank recommended for use. Similarly, I calibrated the torch head distance to the opening of the Searzall using the 1/8th inch matchstick.

Marc, you haven't said if you seasoned the screen per the required procedure. They do say if you fail to do this you will blow through your screen almost immediately.
What I'd like to know is what the expected lifespan is for these screens. Have they tested them for this and is there an average number of hours they're good for with normal use for either the TS4000 or TS8000? I love my Searzall, but worry about screen lifespan and how reliably I'll be able to obtain replacements a year or two from now.

We're always looking for new ways to improve our screens - most damage occurs during seasoning or soon thereafter. Typically when we're testing screens, we'll test them for 2 hours worth of 20 minute long burns (about 2 tanks worth - for what it's worth, Dave still hasn't burned through his Searzall screens from last year).

Hi all, I followed the exact procedure for seasoning set forth in the booklet (and video) for at least two minutes - holding the Searzall at least 4 feet from the ground in a way that the screen is parallel to the ground. For what it's worth - I for sure did NOT go through even one 16.4 green camping tank before the mesh gave way. Maybe I wasn't lucky with mine - but I most certainly would like to be able to use my Searzall for more than an hours before running out of screens... Thanks.

I burned a large hole in the mesh after about 10 minutes of use. I did install and season correctly. A possible cause is that I used MAPP/PRO instead of propane. Yes, I know that instructions said to only use propane, but I thought it was for stability issues only (and I had two bottles of MAPP/PRO). Evidently, that is not the only issue. Installed a new mesh and switched to propane. No problem so far after about 30 minutes of use.

Furthermore, it's radio silence on the many email follow ups I've done. Could you PLEASE advise? Thank you Marc

Hi Marc,
We're fairly certain we've got your situation sorted out, but if that's not the case and you still have yet to hear from us, please let us know!

Hi Searzballer,
After my last email follow up last night, I finally got a reply. I was told that come February there would be "indestructible" palladium coated screens available and that I could wait for these - which I opted to do. Looking forward to receiving these in the near future!
Thank you very much Marc
