Can I use a propane/butane cylinder or a Map Pro Cylinder with my searzall? (perhaps with the new palladium screens?) The torch head which I will be using is the Rothenberger Super Fire 2. Thanks!

Peep the manual. You should use propane. I'm not sure if that torch head is approved. It's definitely not one of the Bernzomatic torches that they recommend, but it looks like it might be a rebranded TS8000 or TS4000.
"Approved Tanks and Torch Heads The Searzall requires a 16.4 oz “camping” propane gas cylinder tank (fat squat tanks, typically green). These tanks are found at hardware and camping supply stores.
We require the use of one of the following torches when using your Searzall: Bernzomatic TS8000 (Highly recommended) (14282 Btu/hour, ~1.5 hours of searing per tank) Bernzomatic TS4000 (Not nearly as powerful) (6732 Btu/hour, ~3.25 hours of searing per tank)
DO NOT USE: 14.1 oz propane tanks (tall cylinders that are typically blue) 14.1 oz MAPP or MAP-Pro cylinder tanks (tall cylinders that are typically yellow) Iwatani Torch All other tanks or torches not mentioned here"

Unfortunately my issue is that propane is not available in my country, only the two options mentioned in my post. And as I live on an island shipping it from abroad is not an option. So I either use one of the abovementioned gases or I toss my searzall in the bin (I bought it back when it was claimed that map was useable on it). Therefore as I can't follow the exact guidelines posed by the instructions I'm hoping for some advice from someone who used one of these two gases or someone at Booker & Dax who can suggest a solution

We don't recommend MAPP gas for a number of reasons, the first of which is that it results in rapid screen deterioration. We only recommend the 16.4 oz propane camping tank because it's what we have tried and tested. We can't recommend anything that we haven't tested. We're aware that many of our international customers can't get ahold of these tanks, which is part of the reason why we created our forums. We wanted to give our customers outside the US a place to discuss products that we haven't tested at Booker and Dax HQ and therefore can't give advice on. -Booker and Dax Lab

I picked up a map pro canister today and ordered the new paladium coated screens so I'll test both types of screens with it and see how it goes!

I purchased my Searzall just a week ago from Amazon: how do I know whether or not my screen is the new palladium one? I already posted a question on the International forum but no reply has come yet.

Hello! If you purchased your Searzall a week ago, then your Searzall arrived with the palladium screens. We switched to the new screens a couple months back. -Booker and Dax Lab
