Hi,
I did receive my Searzall and a BernzOmatic TS8000. Unfortunately I did realize european gas canisters are not compatible with US standards (Threading is totally different). Furthermore, pure propan canisters are apparently hard to get in camping sizes in Europe.
Did anyone try to use an european torch-head with propan-butan canister?

Curious problem. Are you sure the threading on a canister like this one: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001P80GEG is any different? The tanks look identical to mine, but I can't see the threads as they are capped off. You could also get an adapter between tank threads, US to European threading.

Alas, the shipping costs at that link are very high, tripling the cost. And it will probably be even more expensive since Royal Mail won't carry compressed gas. I've written Coleman asking if you can buy the 465g cannister in Europe. It's strange: it's made in France, it has warnings in European languages, but seems only available from UK sellers. And UK shipping charges are very high. I've ordered one through amazon.de (which, even though the seller is the same, has much lower shipping costs than on amazon.co.uk). I'll let you know how it turns out.
On a happier note, the Bernzomatic cylinders are available (at least here in the Czech Republic). I know they're not recommended because the resulting setup is unstable (and it really is). To deal with this I use a stock pot as a stand after use. Not, ahem, that I'm recommending that you do so, because it is after all dangerous.

Hi All - had the same issue in Denmark in getting a gas canister for the TS8000 - after some investigation I discovered that the brand Rimac has a mapp gas canister that can be used and it has the right thread - it works perfectly with the TS8000 and the Searzall. Best Regards, Peter Sorensen - Denmark

Bernzomatic does sell green camping canisters as well, at least here in the US.

A while before the units shipped Dave & crew recommended the Rothenberger Superfire2 torch as a EU alternative. I am currently using this torch with my searzall and so far things seem to be working fine. I ordered the torch and propane canister from Amazon and had no problem with shipping in the UK, but transport of compressed propane is always a worry so I am certain laws will vary from country to country.

Don't know about the law. Regarding the Superfire2, the reason it looks a lot like a TS8000 is that it IS, in fact, a TS8000. I have been led to believe that Bernzomatic may stop making this torch for Rothenberger so I'd snap them up quick.

I have been led to believe that Bernzomatic may stop making this torch for Rothenberger so I'd snap them up quick. If they where not so incredibly expensive I would do that in a jiffy. But I already bought a Benzomatic from the US. Naively assuming that I would get gas cylinders here. Can we assume that the cartridge Posted by Sekkyo will fit a US Benzomatic torch? How can this be tested? I don't mind buying from the UK. Absurdly, none of the cartridge suppliers even mention the name of the fitting used. If I knew the size of the fittings, I would look around for adapters, but I don't know what to search for. Neither the US or the EU cartridge threads seem to be documented anywhere? Are there no alternative torches that one can buy locally? (Germany, EU) I bought a Rothenberger Butane torch recently. It runs with regular camping gas cylinders. But unfortunately it's not very good at all. It has no igniter and it has a very weak flame (probably due to a construction failure) Not sure I want to buy a dud again...

I have this problem in Japan as well. All the canisters here are Lindal valves, and the Bernzomatics don't fit... I can find adapters that go the other way (http://adventuresinstoving.blogspot.jp/2012/01/kovea-lpg-adapter.html), but that's not very helpful...

I noticed that you mounted that adaptor on a butane tank. Did the searzall work fine with that? I assumed that we could only use propane so never gave it a go.

I bought earlier an burner that was recomended for sousvide due to high heat, but I cannot make it work well, it's an rebranded Worthington cyclone burner, local name is Rimac, looks like this: www.jula.no/globalassets/catalog/productimages/218533.jpgthe worthington looks like this: www.amazon.com/Worthington-Pro-Grade-Interchangeable-WT7601i/dp/B004Q04BVEwhen I was searching for Rothenberger Superfire2 on german ebay (I thought rothenberger was an german name,..) I only found superfire3, which looks exactly the same as my worthingthon, like this: www.amazon.com/Rothenberger-35431R-SuperFire-Brazing-Regulator/dp/B002LKZKAMall these have replacable flame tubes for various use, so I thought it was possible to use this with the Searzall, but was not recomended it... so I guess it's the same with the newer Rothenbergers also then? I capitulated now, and ordered the bernzomatic ts8000 from US, so I hope I have no problems getting gas for that one here i Norway. The foot for the tall bottles, do anyone know where one can find those?

The foot for the tall bottles, do anyone know where one can find those? I got mine from Amazon UK, but lots of hardware suppliers seem to sell them. A Google search for 'rothenberger gas cylinder stand' should show a bunch of options.
