Pizza slices face DOWN on foil, from 3" heat the bottom until they crisp up to your desired level. Then pizza face up blasting away at 2" until bubbly. About 45s per slice.

I tried this technique and you are quite right. A nice crispy crust and a fresh baked bubbly topping. Yet another reason to relegate my microwave to its better suited role as cooking timer.
