Hi all! I missed the kickstarter as I only recently got turned on to sous vide cooking, but I've already got one from Amazon sitting on my desk. Before I get started, though, I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for something I could pick up on Amazon or similar on which to safely sear steaks.
The tray in the official videos is awesome, with the rotation and all, and I see in another thread that they're intending to sell something like that after it's delivered to backers, but I have no idea what that timeframe might be. Anyone have links for other items that can stand in?

I appreciate the suggestion, but I fear I'm not so handy. Well done, though; wow.

Now that I've got my Searzall and sous vide setup, I've actually found that searing the food right on the plate works well for my needs. It keeps the food warm once it's on the table, to boot.

Hi maymay - a few questions regarding your turntable above.
1. The SS rods/pegs are simply slipped through the holes in the grill topper as/wherever needed to help hold things in position on the tray and not permanently fixed in place?
2. On the left handle of the grill topper I see a bolt head which I assume has the wingnut attached underneath the turntable tray? I assume there's one on the right as well?
3. On the tray handles are there also spacers underneath to hold the grill topper above the tray or is the topper sitting upside down and directly on the turntable tray?
I like the solution, some more photos might be helpful though if you have the time. Thanks for your post/sharing!
Ray

Aww shucks. I was hoping to have a dialog. What I've noticed so far on this board is that it's not very intuitive on how to follow threads. I.E. - if you post to a thread I can't see how I subscribe and get notifications on comments or updates. Can't figure out how to turn that on or off. I figure that's why maymay never got back.
I am not getting updates to any of the threads I posted too.... need to figure out how to turn that on.

No spacers just short bolts with nylon washers & wing nuts. Sitting upside down and directly on the turntable tray, YES. I should add that I had to take a file to the SS-pegs in a drill press to remove about .005 in diameter so they would fit.

Is the response and photo above A-O.K.?
